Hi Iain, I wanted to clarify that the Pomegranate campaign is intended for a larger audience than Nova Scotia expats. Come to life's mandate is to change the way people think about the province and highlight our many advantages. We do this in a strategic way - targeting our message towards influencers in our key markets. One of our big influencer groups is expats as they carry Nova Scotia's story with them where ever they might be. In the three days since the launch of the "Pom," we've had over 10,000 unique visitors to the site and the number of visits has increased daily. We've reached people, some ex-pats, many more not, throughout Canada, in all our target markets, every state in the US (except N. Dakota!?), Jerusalem, Ukraine, Italy and the list goes on. The response has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic. We've engaged viewers and they'll come away with a more up-to-date perception of Nova Scotia.

I suspect you may have been trying to test the system via Firefox (2.0.0.14) as I was.

When you switch to IE (7) it confirms that you do indeed have the correct video players.

Ha...of course this is true. It is just that you are also not getting paid by the CBC to blog about it, which would open up a world of feedback. I just thought it was funny that someone could not like band because they didn't hear a hook when that is likely band's biggest criticism...only hooks. The other odd thing is a site like CBC Radio 3 never says anything negative about anything, so I found it odd to see such a negative thing on a regular CBC blog. I am so used to everything being polite, I would not expect such passion.

I actually like negative publicity (this kind...not the MJ kind) and was really just making a joke about someone that works for a nationally televised show has a range of taste that starts with The Killers on top and ends with Windom Earle on the bottom. I actually like The Killers, but to state they are the best and Windom Earle are the worst makes me think they are missing out on some of the best (and worst) music that is around. And even if you put Windom Earle at the bottom, which is totally possible...especially if you hate hooks and karaoke and instrumental music...I just thought the justification was pretty weak.

So, I have no problem with the opinion...I just thought the explanation was rather funny. Especially since they gave points for Bon Jovi karaoke and cowbell usage.

Sad! This is why I hate telling people about the music I like to listen to: I don't want people to make me feel bad about the music I like, because I *like* it. I could probably make someone feel bad about listening to Radiohead or the Beatles if I really put my mind to it.... Musical preference is *subjective* (ie. if I like it, then it's good).

Ha! I just presented this experiment in class as an example of response bias masquerading as multisensory integration. There is other research out there that shows color can literally affect taste (true multisensory integration), but the wine study just shows that people judge a book by its cover. FYI - people are really good at detecting a wide range of tastes, but olfaction (and taste) is primary lateralized to the right hemisphere, while language is lateralized to the left hemisphere. This makes it incredibly difficult for us to label tastes and smells.

I love the bottle part, though. While it might suggest people are suckers, I prefer to interpret this as also being related to multisensory integration. The brain is all about predictions - you see a lovely bottle and a nice wine glass, and your brain predicts it's going to taste good. And then your brain fills in the holes with 'deliciousness' to actually make the wine taste better. Literally, that is your experience. I don't know why people like to discount that - if I think it's better, then for me, it's better. I totally think port tastes better when I drink it out of a tiny glass.

We were travelling from Nova Scotia and used them and they were incredible.
They provided us with car seats in perfect condition as well as baby phones.
They dropped off and picked up our equipment and were very service friendly.

I would recommend them to anyone.
